Miss Fowler’s Room

Books We’ve Read Lately

I know that many of you have a recommendation or two stored away. Respond to this post with a comment including a book you’d recommend to others and why.

Simply telling us that it was a good book is not enough. If you’re recommending it, we know that. You might include who you think would be interested in reading this book or what your favorite part was. Most importantly, DO NOT spoil the book for us by giving away anything important to the plot.

I read PROM by Laurie Halse Anderson for the last Literary Bites meeting in the library. SPEAK is one of my favorite books, so I was excited to read PROM. PROM was very different from SPEAK, but it appealed to the average kid. What I liked about it was the realness associated with the characters. Ashley, the main character, was a believeable high school senior. I felt like she could be walking the halls at our school.

PROM is about a group of students who try to save the senior prom against all odds after a math teacher steals all of the money the class had saved.

I recommend Angels and Demons, by Dan Brown. It has good historical sense, and I found it very interesting.

  3. I read Angels and Demons too, mostly because I “fell in love” with Dan Brown’s writing after DaVinci Code. Mr. Vastola’s right- check it out.

P.S. Dan Brown also has two other books out there:
    - Deception Point
    - Digital Fortress (I read this one too!)

I recommend Marley and Me. This book is really good if you are a dog lover. It is told by the owner of a dog named Marley, and they tell all about Marley’s life.

I reccommend reading THE OUTSIDERS by S.E. Hinton.
This book has alot of drama between two groups of people, the greasers and the socs. There is alot of fighting and action that leaves you wnating to read more and more.

I recommend reading Because Of Romek. It’s a true story told by David Faber about his brother Romek that was killed by a german soldier during the holocaust. It’s a really good book and I recommend it to people who liked Night.

One book I recommend is Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. It’s about a girl who called the cops during a summer party and how she is reacting to the rude things people doing to her. I love how the book is written is well (it’s kinda like a schedule and a journal of the main character’s life).

a good set of books were the alex rider series by Anthony Horowitz. They are a set of books about a boy named Alex that is pulled in to the British CIA and has to go through almost death experiecnes. i would recomend the books to people that like thrillers that just want you to come backl and just keep reading. I would also recomend these books to kids in the ages of 13-16. Enjoy the readings

A book i have recommended was the book Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. It is one of my favorite books. The book was just thrillling and the characters were alot of fun to read about. If you like storys about vampires i would read this one. The book was also a mystery at some times and i just couldn’t put the book down. Its about a girl who meets a vampire and they fall in love with each other, but the girl is being followed and Edward has to save her. Its a really good book i hope you read it.

Both Speak and The Outsiders were good books. Each book told a story that was needed to be told from their point of view. Night was also a lot like that too.

I recently finished a book called “Peeps” by scott Westerfeld. Its about a virus or infection that is spreading constantly. Those who are infected show signs of vampirism, but it isnt the same thing. Those who are infected but show no symptoms, are called carriers. It’s their job to catch and treat those who are infected because it causes them to go insane and hide from things that used to make them happy. The book was ok over all. Every other chapter had nothing to do with the book, but about different paracites. That wasnt very interesting and the book could’ve gone without it.
